WHAT IS FAITH?,
The bible says in Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Things hoped for means: it is the assurance in who God is and what he has promised. Evidence of things
not seen, means: you don't need something physical that you can see to believe.
When you read the word of God or you hear the word of God, right at that moment you make a decision to believe it
or not to believe it.
Even if you are not sure about it or don't know if you should believe it or not.....if you don't completely believe
it, it's not faith.
Faith is not having to see or touch anything; it is simply taking God at his word.
Heb 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them:but the word preached did not profit them, not
being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith not by sight.
You may ask, how can I believe in something I can't see? We cannot see the wind,
but we can see it's power, and
how it effects our lives. We cannot see electricity, but we can see it's power and how it effects our lives.
We cannot see God, but we can see his power in all that he is and all that he has created.
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he thatcometh to God must believe that he is, and
that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. JUST TAKE HIM AT HIS WORD.
SO WHERE DOES FAITH COME FROM?
Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
That's why God calls Men to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they
believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Deciding to accept GodsSALVATION is the most important decision ever made by faith.
Remember through faith, you are taking God at his word......God loves you and wants to save you.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
(9)Not of works, lest any man should boast.
It is certain we cannot save ourselves, God is the one, through
his son Jesus that saves us; it is a gift, Gods Grace (Grace is Gods unmerited favor), there is nothing we have ever
done or could ever do, no work, no deeds, that would make us worthy enough to be able to save ourselves.
Faith is beliving:
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Luke 1:34-35 Then
said Mary unto, the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
(35) And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest shall
overshadow thee:therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the son of God.
Matthew 28:5-6 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
(6) He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore,Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
The apostle Paul summed it up like this in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
(4) And that he was
buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
I pray that this has been a blessing to you, and if you are a Christian, that it has just strenghtened your faith in what you know and believe about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit .
But if you have not received Jesus as Savior of your life that you would do so now.....Just Take God at his Word
Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
